EyeSpy by Charise Mericle, who now works under the name Charise Harper, appeared in the Chicago weekly New City in the 1990’s. This book collects 40 of these fantastic strips which require you to turn the page around while you’re reading, which is a lot to ask but it’s worth it. This comic was published circa 1997 by Brett Warnock’s pre-Top Shelf imprint Primal Groove Press.
Peyton loved this Pat Aulisio minicomic “C’mon Man” about unrequited love on an astral scale. I thought it was only OK.
No, OK, I loved it too.
How can you not love minicomics by pre-teens? Jessica Weiss was apparently eleven when she created this tale of bullying in 2008. That is just plum crazy.
No idea who Brandon Zamora is but he made an incredibly disturbing (yet still funny) minicomic about abuse called “My Belts.” Who is this guy?
(I’m stuck at home with two sick kids today which means I get to read and blog about a lot of comics!)
This is Avi Spivak’s 2006 Way Out! minicomic, eight pages of laughs about despair and despair about laughs.
Here’s Chris Kuzma’s Complex which is a pain in the rear to photograph (if you’re a nincompoop like me) but is a super awesome tale of a certain Terrry Hersham’s quest to gain entry into a place called (ahem) the Fuckplex. With beast lords, alchemists, and xenotaurs.
Man, John Isaacson goes to a lot of concerts. For the most part, I hate concerts. I mean, I love really good concerts but in my experience those are few and far between. It may be that Isaacson is just more laid-back and easygoing than I am.
